That doesn’t mean there aren’t some easy ways to make money in a hurry. What follows are a few things you can do to raise some quick cash. Some of them are pretty extreme, and should only be attempted as a last resort. You know, in case you really really need some money to spend so you can save on that big sale at the mall.
RETURN THINGS YOU’VE ALREADY PURCHASED – If you’ve still got the receipt and the original packaging (it’s a long shot, but it’s worth a try, right?), you can return past purchases to make a few bucks.
SELL STUFF ONLINE – The web is the 21st century garage sale. Unlike a garage sale, you don’t have to wait for good weather or sit outside for four hours waiting for little old ladies to offer you 50 cents for that toaster oven. To get started, try Craigslist or eBay.
SELL SCRAP METAL – You won’t make much, but your local scrap yard should be willing to offer you some spending money for things like old washing machines, swing sets, campers and piping.
RENT YOUR PARKING SPOT – If you live in the city and are in possession of an extra parking spot, you can turn that real estate into cash by renting out the spot to friends and neighbors in need. You can also rent out the spot to strangers by posting a flyer or a notice online.
BABYSIT – Good babysitters are hard to come by. If you fit the description and don’t mind spending a few hours looking after your neighbor’s tots, this gig might be for you. What’s the going rate for a babysitter these days? Somewhere between $10 and $15 per hour is good pay if you can get it.
SELL BODY PARTS – Okay, I’m not talking about selling a kidney on the black market. That’s actually illegal. For this fundraiser, I’m talking about selling plasma (depending upon your location, you can make $30 or $40) or your hair. For hair, you’ll need to spare at least 10 inches and it must be in good condition (no dye or sun damage).
